Harrison County, TX – The Harrison County Texas America 250 Commission invites all residents to a special Community Engagement Event on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial City Hall, 110 E Houston St, Marshall, TX 75670.
This event is a unique opportunity for Harrison County citizens to come together and be a part of the planning for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Commission is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help organize and execute a series of events leading up to the grand celebration on July 4, 2026.
Event Highlights:
Texas America250: Margaret Koch, Chair of the Texas America250 Commission will be online with us to speak about how Texas communities are joining in on the celebration.
Presentation: Learn what America250 is and details on the many programs available for Harrison County citizens to be involved.
Volunteer Sign-Ups: Join the team and play an active role in making this historic milestone unforgettable.
Refreshments & Networking Opportunities:Â Enjoy refreshments from Bear Creek Smokehouse as you connect with fellow community members and leaders.
America250 Programs: The Harrison County Texas America 250 Commission is proud to be part of the nationwide America250 initiative, which aims to engage, educate, and unite Americans from sea to shining sea through various programs. Some of the exciting America250 programs include:
America’s Field Trip: A nationwide scholastic competition designed to engage America’s youth.
Our American Story: A nationwide initiative to gather stories from people across the United States and create the largest collection of oral histories ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
America Gives: Focused on reinvigorating a year-round culture of service in the United States through 2026 and beyond.
America’s Culture: A national moment to celebrate and uplift American art forms, creative expression, and cultural touchstones.
America Innovates: A nationwide event featuring a traveling tech expo that will visit cities around the country over the span of nearly a year.
America’s Time Capsule: A national collection of items that will help tell the story of America at 250 and give future generations a tangible connection to this important milestone.
